How is Hospice Care Paid For?

RMH is a free-standing, non-profit organization therefore, a bill is never sent to the patient or the patient’s family for Russell-Murray Hospice services. Usually, Medicare and/or some select private insurance comapnies provide coverage for the hospice benefit.

If other billable resources do not pay the full cost of care, or if no health insurance coverage is available to the patient, RMH absorbs the cost using income from sources such as memorial donations, general support contributions, grants and gifts, and fundraisers held in the communities we serve.  We also specify that the revenue generated by our Thrift Store operations be earmarked exclusuvely for the off set of our charity services.  RMH was proud to provided approximately $280,000 in complimentary care for the fiscal year ended October 2008.
